The Less, The Better
Ever since I was little, I've seen two sides on everything. My mom and dad are polar opposites and disagree on most issues considering my mom is a democrat and my dad's a republican. So naturally, my dad loves TV while my mom loathes it. Through elementary school I wasn't allowed to watch TV except on weekends, and sometimes not even then. The rule remained during middle school, but gradually developed into a process of waiting until my mom fell asleep and my dad covered me as we watched shows together. Now, my mom has given up, so me and my dad enjoy our television freely, with the occasional snide remarks from her. We love watching The Office and Modern Family, but even he refuses to watch Glee with me. But after all the years of anti-television discipline, I rarely watch it except for my few select shows. After sitting in front of the television, knowing I have other things to do, I feel like I've wasted my time. Sure, it's entertaining and even informational at times, but there are other ways to see news, learn things, and have fun without sitting on the couch. I don't consider television as a negative thing, but too much of anything becomes a bad thing.
